About Me
My Practice and Approach
The decision to engage with therapy and seek therapeutic support is not to be undertaken lightly. It is an investment in you. Together we will build a therapeutic alliance that supports your growth, self-understanding and self-acceptance. My aim is to help you feel more calm and more capable and to find more ease in life, whatever your challenges.
As a person centered therapist, I work with the belief that people do heal themselves through relationships with others, and I am delighted to offer this healing space of care and acceptance, whatever the nature of your current issues.
My Qualifications and Experience
My work as a counsellor/psychotherapist is an honour and a privilege. Having worked in a variety of caring and supporting roles for the past 25 years I decided to qualify as a person centred therapist. My previous roles include support worker, birth doula, therapeutic and group facilitator and learning developer. I feel as if all my life I have been working towards establishing myself as a therapist.
I have a PGDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Cumbria. I am registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk) and follow their ethical guidelines.
My recent clinical practice includes experience of working with attachment disorder, trauma and complex post traumatic stress disorder (CPSD).
What I Aim to Achieve in my Practice
I use empathy and care to help my clients reach a place where growth and ease may be more normal for them than stuckness, fear, depression or anxiety.
My aim is to help my clients live their lives to the fullest, whatever that may mean to them. Valuing confidentiality and clear boundaries, I aim to provide a robust ethical practice in order to safely meet my clients' needs.
